Amazon’s Alexa fund, established in 2015, pivots its strategic investment approach to embrace the AI revolution and support early-stage startups. This broadens its strategy to help new companies focused on AI innovations.

Paul Bernard, director of Amazon Alexa Fund, outlined the fund’s evolution, revealing that while its primary initial mission was voice tech, rapid AI developments have created opportunities for them to invest in other areas, such as Smart Agents and AI-enabled hardware. 

“While the Alexa Fund’s mission has evolved beyond the initial focus on voice technology over the years, the rapid developments in AI present an inflection point that allows the Fund to embrace new technology while still serving its original mission—improving people's lives through innovation. NinjaTech AI

The AI tech company offers a chatbot that generates images, codes, and videos, conducts deep research, and schedules meetings. It integrates models from AI giants like Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta, and Deepseek and runs its infrastructure end-to-end on AWS.

Hedra**

Last year, the startup secured a $10-million investment from Index Ventures, Abstract, 16z Games Speedrun, and others. 

Through its studio, it helps users generate video, audio, and images, and recently, it unveiled its Character-3 AI for content creation. 

Ario

The AI-powered app is focused on family management, handling scheduling and tasks. It has developed a school email decoder, transforming communications into action items and events. The fund director was impressed by its ability to understand the personal context behind tasks.

HeyBoss**

Its mission is to make app development accessible to anyone—and code-free. The AI agent works seamlessly to automatically " design and develop” websites and apps, democratizing the industry and making it accessible regardless of one’s tech skills and background. 

The AI startup has officially joined the likes of Lovable, Cursor, Bolt.new, and Replit.

Amazon’s mission is to fund these and to use them as testing grounds for its AI technologies and cloud.  

The package includes early access to SDKs and APIs, direct engagement opportunities with its senior executives, and connections to Amazon Business.
